Session Description: This case study demonstrates how quality expertise from the manufacturing industry can be successfully applied to improve patient care while improving practice efficiency and reducing costs for primary care practices. Key enablers for the transformation include: application of lean and Six Sigma principles, implementation of an electronic registry, an e-prescription system, evidence-based care, total staff engagement, use of protocols, and emphasis on patient self-management strategies.
